Contiinued from May 3 page 1

Next I found this on the street with all the embassies. I guess it is a porcupine. I thought he/she might be alive. But no...

I knew it would get run over and squashed if it stayed here on the side of the street. It probably already got run over by a car once... So I moved it to a grassy spot.

I've never seen a porcupine before. Except maybe in a museum.

This was the end of the street. Those are the railroad tracks

When I came out I realized I had seen this house before. The one with interesting lawn artwork.

This next one is in the back of the house. He has his own little train track!

Just an example of another one of the big houses they are building in the neighborhood.

This house brings back memories.

A train is coming.

Flower next to the train tracks.

A neighborhood in what I would call the flood plain.

Just what I need. an ironing board.

I decided to follow this dry creek (or trash) bed.

The way the water arranged this trash it almost looked like art (or even better than some, one might be tempted to say.)

By the way, there was a lot of bamboo growing in the creekbed.

This could be a pretty area.

This is a toilet in case you can't tell.

Here is where it ends.

Some houses have been knocked down.

On the other side of the river.

This also could have been a pretty area.

The train bridge.

I decided to try to climb up the embankment.

Thistles....

Almost to the top..

That is my shadow...

From the railroad tracks.

With zoom.

The area I was in with the embassies and construction.

One more thing I like about this country. You can walk on the train tracks. In some countries you would get fined for this. I got stopped once by the police in Germany, but he let me go when he found out I was from Florida and he had vacationed there with his family. I was lost that day actually and was just following the tracks to get back to the station.

Now I am near the train station.

Cutting the grass by hand.

I am pretty sure I have been by this car many times before, but I have never noticed it. I kept thinking of something Leo Buscaglai wrote. It was something like "enjoy the present, be spontaneous, smell the flowers, touch them." He also said to hug people. I haven't read the book in a long time. Carissa brought it for me from the USA. Reading it again I see even more how much I agree with him and how much we think alike and have come to similar conclusions. I feel a little sad he is dead now.

This is what got my attention this time. TG means Titograd. This is the first time I have seen TG plates.

From the front

It is next to this building. You can see it from the train station. If you find this car, please take a pic of yourself and send me the link. stevesplacehostel@yahoo.com

That is the train station in the background, so if you are wating for a train and have 15 minutes you can walk down, take a pic and get back in time.

The green building is the train station. The first one is the post office.

On the wall of the post office. Montenegrin teens like to write their friends names like this. Often they say "4ever".

I guess this means PTT something, for post telephone and telegraph.

Loic said Podgorica had the biggest collection of ugly buildings he has ever seen in the world! The post office was one of his favorites. He thought it was an abandoned building. When I told him it was still open, he had a hard time believing it.

This reminds me a bit of Peru. They used to steal man hole covers to sell for scrap metal. I accidently drove into one once.

I might be wrong but I don't think they still convert money here. I will try to find out.

This phone suggests you can pay to make calls here. I want to check this too. It could be handy if you are at the train station.

The new one across the street.

Then I kept walking and found this.

Just then I heard the train and hurried to take these last two pics.

I got a ticket as the train pulled up, then got on and took this pic of the clock. The train was right on time, as the local trains usually are.

Now it is getting too smokey in this cafe/bar in Bar where I am right now. I will show that pic later...
