People I Have Met in Montenegro
Anton
Anton is a bright, helpful 18-year-old. He is finishing his last few months in the tourism high school. He has been helping me with several things, including this site. He also regularly comes over to the hostel to meet the Couchsurfers and hostel guests. He is also interested in the ideas for our NGO projects.
Aco
Aco (pronounced Atso) a 19-year-old who is very into heavy metal. He and I met under the bridge at Karvers one night when I was passing by and he offered me a drink of his beer. I normally don't drink much beer, but I decided to accept his invitation. We started talking, and I told him about my ideas for an alternative school and an NGO, which he got very interested in, especially since going to school is not one of his favorite pasttimes. Since then, he has been a big help to me. The other day, I created a new domain for him called Metalheadslike.me. Here is a video of him
Boris
Boris is a teen who has helped me from time to time. He knew Janko.
Bosko
Bosko (pronounced Boshko) is my computer guy. He doesn't speak much English, but he has been very helpful. He has spent three or four hours working on a problem and only charged me 20 Euro. Sometimes he comes by and fixes something without charging anything. One day I had to nearly insist that he take some money. Today, he came by again to fix something and didn't want me to pay anything, which I somewhat expected, so I offered him a package of cookies. At first, he refused this too, but I offered them again a little more assertively so he accepted and thanked me almost as if he hadn't done anything to deserve them. What he doesn't fully understand is how much it is worth to me that I can trust him, which is very important to me. I also value the fact that he nearly always comes over within one hour of my calling him.
Checky
Checky is a senior in highschool. He goes to the music school. He often argues with his mother about going to school. She wants him to go, he doesn't want to go.
Here are some pictures and videos. Here is his Couchsurfing profile.
Eva - Eva has rooms in Sutomore for a very good price. (For examle 10 euros per person.) Eva speaks German well and English pretty well.
Ivan - Ivan works in the tourist info office in Bar. He is very friendly and speaks English well. We always have a nce chat when I see him. The office is near the harbor and the ferry to Italy. There is a hotel and restaurant called the Tourist Hotel and the tourist info office is right next to that.
Jasmin, Fertija - Jasmin is Fertija's son. He speaks English well. Is studying tourism. His mother has rooms in Susanj at a very good price. (For examle 10 euros per person.) Susanj is on the edge of Bar.
Mlica 1 - Milica 1 is a teen whose mother sells sandwiches near the Economics high school. She has been studying in the tourism high school. Her English is very good. Her mother is very friendly. In April 2010 I found peanut butter for the first time in Podgorica. They kept it in the refrigerated section next to the butter. Many local people still don't know what it is though, including Milica's mother. So I gave her some and explained that she could make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and see them to the students. IE PBJ's. Or peanut butter and honey. Also very good., and Montenegro has a lot of bees and honey. (honey is med in Montenegrin)
Milca 2 - She works in a local shop next to the train stop in Susanj. She is very friendly and speaks German and Russian, but very little English. She studied Chemistry in the university in Belgrade.
